Osborn
was originally founded in 1919, as
a subsidiary of British Steel company,
Samuel
Osborn. It was established to market
special steels for industry and mining
in South Africa. Today the company
is a major manufacturer of equipment
for Africa's mining and quarrying
industries, with a significant share
in the crusher, feeder, screen and
conveyor markets.
Employing
over 220 people, Osborn is one of
South Africa's leading turnkey materials
handling contractors, specializing
in mobile and fixed crushing and
screening plants and conveyor systems.
Osborn has achieved OHSAS 18000 system
certification for occupational health
and safety management.
Osborn
is a member of the Astec Industries Inc.
group of companies, a leading American
manufacturer of plant and equipment for
aggregate processing, asphalt road building
and pipeline and utility trenching.
Service
Network: Osborn has a comprehensive
distribution network with sales staff
working out of well-established branches
at Cape town, Richards Bay, Durban,
Witbank and Welkom. Further countrywide
and international distribution is handled
by agents in Cape Town, Rustenburg,
Witbank, Kenya, Tanzania, Kimberley,
Ghana and Nigeria.
Manufacturing is
carried out at Osborn's head office and
factory at Elandsfontein, near Johannesburg. The
extensive, modern manufacturing facilities
are supported by strong procurement,
expediting and management functions to
ensure contracts are fulfilled and plants
commissioned on time.
